The reception, which will be free and open to the public, will include an awards presentation for the juried exhibition at 7 p.m. Visitors may view the exhibitions through April 25.
For many years, the Student Association Art Exhibition Committee has been an active sponsor and participant in the juried exhibition, which is traditionally the most popular gallery event of the year. This exhibition will feature original artwork in a variety of media such as ceramics, oils and acrylics, watercolors, photographs, graphic design, drawings, sculpture, mixed media and video.
The exhibition is a competition open to any undergraduate student enrolled at SUNY Oswego. Invited jurors review the submitted entries and make the final selections. This year’s jurors are Donna Lamb, executive director of the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, and Marc V. Stress of stressdesign in Syracuse.
This year’s awards will include the Student Association Purchase Award, the President’s Purchase Award, the Al Bremmer Award for Painting, the Jurors Award in Graphic Arts and the Jurors Award in Studio Arts.
The spring Master of Arts Thesis Exhibition, featuring recent work by graphic design major Sarah Haig, will open and run concurrently with the juried exhibition. Haig’s mixed-media installation, inspired by the stories of survivors of abuse, fulfills a final requirement for her master of arts degree.
Exhibitions and programs presented by Tyler Art Gallery are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekends.
Visitors with disabilities who need assistance to attend Tyler Art Gallery events may call the gallery office in advance at 312-2113.
