Nirsberger, who recently completed his bachelor’s degree in music at SUNY Oswego, said he strives to create provocative jazz improvisations on the guitar. After studying with jazz masters such as Richard Holland, Richard Balestra, Steve Brown, John Spillet, Jack Fragomeni and Robert Cohen, Nirsberger said he strives to develop a unique and intimate approach to the instrument.
Nirsberger has performed with such acts as the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra, the Rick Holland-Evan Dobbins Little Big Band, the SUNY Oswego Jazz Orchestra and the SUNY Oswego Guitar Ensemble.
He earned a 2005 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence, the SUNY Oswego Distinguished Music Award and the Carlos Monobianco Scholarship.
The performance will feature Nirsberger on guitar, Holland on flugelhorn and trumpet, Dave Arenius playing bass, Chris Earley drumming and special guest Balestra on guitar.
