Rice Creek Field Station will display a new forests exhibit Saturday, April 23, as it celebrates both Earth Day and the International Year of Forests.
The free exhibit, featuring connections between local and global forested areas, supports the U.N. General Assembly’s declaration on behalf of forests, an effort that promotes sustainable management, conservation and responsible development of forests worldwide. Earth Day is Friday, April 22, this year.
In Rice Creek’s viewing gallery, the exhibit will feature connections among local and global forested areas, healthy ecosystems and choices for a sustainable future.
At 1 p.m. that day, the regular guided Rice Creek Ramble nature walk, this one titled “What’s Popping Up?,” will explore herbs and flowers in Rice Creek’s woods and fields.
Rice Creek is located about a half-mile south of State Route 104, off Thompson Road. Trails are open to the public for hiking during daylight hours.
