SUNY Oswego RSVP has announced a six-hour class for older drivers Tuesday, July 12, in Parish through the AARP’s Driver Safety Program.
Call Priscilla Walts, 695-5186, to register for the class, which will start at 9 a.m. in Parish Methodist Church. Participants should bring a check for $14 ($12 for AARP members) made out to the AARP, driver’s license, a pen or pencil and lunch for the 20-minute break.
Besides participants, RSVP and AARP continue to seek instructors ages 55 and older for the Driver Safety Program. Those interested should contact Gordon Schipper, district coordinator, 963-3093, about certification by a New York state trainer.
RSVP, sponsored locally by SUNY Oswego and the United Way, works with the AARP to recruit and support instructors. AARP provides certification for class participants and monitors training of and reimburses out-of-pocket expenses for volunteer instructors.
