Anyone who donated $5 received permission to wear denim to work on that day as well as a pink ribbon pin. Employee organizers also raised funds through selling pink rubber bracelets and ribbons for a memory tree, while Auxiliary Services made an additional sizable donation to the foundation.
It is the 10th year of nationwide Denim Day activities for the Komen Foundation, which supports innovative research grants, meritorious awards and educational, scientific and community outreach programs around the world.
In the morning on Oct. 7, dozens of campus employees—including breast cancer survivors and those whose loved ones had the disease—came together to show their support.
