SUNY Oswego received a Downtown Excellence Award from the Downtown Committee of Syracuse in recognition of the college’s contribution to the Syracuse community by opening its Metro Center.
The SUNY Oswego Metro Center was recognized as an innovative high-tech outlet for graduate studies, workforce training, seminars and corporate and community meetings. With a crowd of 250 people in attendance, Metro Center Director James Jerose accepted the award on behalf of the college. It was given during the annual meeting of the Downtown Committee in late June.
Located in Syracuse’s Clinton Square, the SUNY Oswego Metro Center offers year-round credit and non-credit educational opportunities to students, professionals and organizations. New programs being planned at the Metro Center include gerontology and trauma studies graduate certificate programs; professional certificates in succession planning, customer service and supervisory skills; and a host of other programs.
