Around 1,200 graduating students, thousands of their friends and family, and two accomplished alumni will converge on the lakeside campus for SUNY Oswego’s dual Commencement ceremonies on Saturday.
The 9 a.m. morning ceremony for graduates of the School of Business and School of Education will feature prominent attorney Errol B. Taylor as guest speaker. The College of Arts and Sciences graduation, beginning at 1:30 p.m. will welcome back Christian Mensah, a legal officer with the United Nations. Both SUNY Oswego alumni will receive honorory degrees from the State University of New York at the events in Golden Romney Fieldhouse.
In addition, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer plans to address the afternoon ceremony.
Tickets, which are free and available when graduates pick up their caps and gowns, are required for entry. Because seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, attendees are urged to arrive early to celebrate the success of graduates.
