Students and faculty from SUNY Oswego’s music department will showcase their skills while raising funds during the annual “Collage” concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 4, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.
Music will encompass classical, jazz and show tunes performed by large ensembles, smaller select combos, chamber groups and soloists.
The annual fast-paced show features “a series of spotlight pieces moving from one performance to another so that the effect is an integrated program of music,” said music faculty member Rob Auler, who coordinates the performance.
Interest among students continues to build in participating, Auler noted. “Last year had been our high year in terms of auditions for this show, and we doubled that this year,” he said.
Student soloists will include pianists Tamar Greene, Tim Lanigan and Wojciech Milewski; trombonist Steve Hollenbeck; and vocalists Jon Powers and Emily Sorriento.
Powers will also direct a selection by the College-Community Orchestra. Other participating ensembles will include the College Choir, Concert Band, Oswego Jazz Project, State Singers, SUNY Oswego Jazz Ensemble and the SUNY Oswego Recorder Consort.
Admission costs $10 ($5 for seniors, students and SUNY Oswego students). All proceeds benefit the SUNY Oswego Music Department Excellence Fund.
Tickets are available through Tyler box office at 312-2141 or email@example.com.
