Oswego Festival Chorus invites new members for 2011-12

The Oswego Festival Chorus, featuring members of the community as well as SUNY Oswego students, faculty and staff, is seeking additional singers for its 2011-12 season.

Rehearsals will take place each Monday, 7 to 9 p.m., beginning Sept. 12, in Room 41 of Tyler Hall at SUNY Oswego. New members should arrive 15 minutes early to register.

Under new director Dr. Clay Price, who is now director of choral activities at SUNY Oswego, the Festival Chorus will prepare for a Dec. 11 concert titled “A 20th Century Christmas,” which will feature Benjamin Britten’s “A Ceremony of Carols” and Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata.”

Other holiday works will include the Dec. 11 U.S. premiere of Cyril Rootham’s “Magnificat in F” from his “Evening Service for Double Choir.”

Parking for evening rehearsals is free. The cost of participating in Festival Chorus is $12, and music may be purchased for an additional $12 or borrowed (refundable).
