Children invited to audition for 'A Doll's House'

The SUNY Oswego theatre department will host an open audition for children ages 7 to 10 for the spring production of Henrik Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House.” The audition will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 17, in Tyler Hall’s lab theatre on campus.

Children cast will need to attend rehearsals on weekday evenings and Saturdays in the two weeks prior to opening, and on Sunday, Feb. 24.  “A Doll’s House” has performance dates Feb. 28 and 29 and March 1, 7, 8 and 9 in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.

For the performance, the theatre department seeks three outgoing, energetic, focused children. A child wrangler will be in charge of the children during rehearsals and performances.

Auditions will consist of theatre games, improvisation and/or storytelling.

Signs will be posted in Tyler Hall to direct parents and children to the audition area. Children must be accompanied by a parent and/or guardian at the audition, but parents do not have to be present for rehearsals or performances. Audition slots may be reserved by e-mailing director Kevin Kennison at kennison@oswego.edu by Nov. 14.

Kennison, a visiting professor of theatre from New York City, is a 1982 graduate of SUNY Oswego. He has spent his career as a producer, director, independent casting director and acting teacher. Kennison has cast for Broadway, national and international tours including “The Lion King,” film and television.
