Dr. Kenneth J. Clough, vice president for institutional advancement at Maria College in Albany, will join the administration of SUNY Oswego in January as chief of staff for President Deborah F. Stanley.
“In his nine years as vice president at Maria College, Dr. Clough has had a broad portfolio allowing him to work with all areas of the college to attain strategic goals,” Stanley said. “He brought his background in admissions, financial aid, student records and institutional research to bear in managing initiatives in strategic planning, enrollment management, development, instructional and administrative technology, curriculum development, and assessment.”
Clough’s major accomplishments at Maria included creating an institution-wide framework for developing and implementing a college master plan and strategic plan and creating key performance indicators to monitor the plans’ implementation.
His achievements also include implementing the Blackboard learning system and launching a distance education program; creating the On-Line Academy for local secondary school teachers to educate them about distance education pedagogies; working with Admissions to increase admissions standards; and collaborating with academic departments to create new academic programs, including bachelor’s degree programs in health information technology and health care management, among others.
Previously, as director of student records and institutional research, he played an important role in the college’s retention efforts.
Clough earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology at Syracuse University and his master’s and Ph.D. in educational administration and policy studies from the SUNY University at Albany.
In his more than 25 years in higher education, Dr. Clough has held administrative positions at a number of institutions in the Albany area besides Maria, including the College of Saint Rose and the Sage Colleges. He has also been very active in the greater Albany area community.
