All a busy parent really wants to know about that new release: Is the movie “sitter-worthy”?
Alumna and comedian Carey Reilly uses her maternal wit and wisdom to guide a national audience on the “Today” show segment, “Two Moms and a Movie.”
Reilly does the monthly spot with fellow mom and film critic Alison Bailes. Her next appearance is slated for the second hour of “Today” July 28.
“Two Moms” is just one of a slew of recent projects and appearances for Reilly, a 1995 Oswego graduate who also maintains the blog — and alter ego — GossipMama.
“It only works if you do it with a wink,” Reilly said of her cultural musings. “I always serve it [gossip] up with a spoonful of sugar.â€
The broadcasting major developed her presence both onstage and behind the scenes while at Oswego. A regular in theatre productions, she also started making influential connections as an intern on “Live with Regis and Kathy Lee.”
“That internship changed everything,” said Reilly, who also did some production work at WTVH-TV in Syracuse while a student. “I had never met anyone famous and within a week I had met like 25 celebrities.”
Many of Reilly’s first breaks came from friends and even neighbors in the Auburn native’s first years living in New York City. She has appeared in many television shows including “Law & Order” and VH1 specials.
Today, she makes regular appearances on “The Joy Behar Show†and “Showbiz Tonight,†both on the HLN cable network. Reilly is a contributor to InTouch magazine and is currently working on a comedic memoir.
