The College-Community Orchestra will present some notable Beethoven pieces at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom at SUNY Oswego.
Seung hee Yang, an award-winning violinist and SUNY Oswego music faculty member, will be featured in Beethoven’s violin concerto in D major. This “famous, serene and beautiful” creation is “considered by many as the most perfect example of the violin concerto literature,” said SUNY Oswego music faculty member Juan F. La Manna, who conducts the College-Community Orchestra.
Attendees will also experience Beethoven’s rarely heard Fourth Symphony. “Written at the same time as the more famous Fifth, the Fourth is a positive, happy, energetic statement of joy and humor,” La Manna explained.
Admission will be free, but a suggested donation of $5 from the general public is encouraged to support the orchestra’s scholarship fund.
