Oswego scientist on team reporting findings on tissue regeneration in Nature

Dr. Jennifer Olori of SUNY Oswego’s biological sciences faculty co-authored research published Oct. 26 in the international journal Nature suggesting that regeneration of limbs, unique in modern salamanders, may have been a widespread feature that other four-legged vertebrates lost in the course of evolution.

Paid-vacations study sharpens student research skills

SUNY Oswego chemistry professor Dr. Kestas Bendinskas and his student researchers recently shared in a grant for a preliminary study of stress markers and related effects among workers who take paid vacation time and those who leave some or all of it on the table.

Faculty-Student Collaborations

Fossil-hunting students flourish in New Mexico dig

Thanks to a National Geographic Society Committee for Research and Exploration grant, three SUNY Oswego undergraduates spent three weeks at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico, this summer unearthing such fossils as the tiny jaws of ancient animals—and the fossilized bones of a rare dinosaur—as they tried on paleontology careers.

Fulbright Canada awards Oswego's Kevin White visiting research chair

Fulbright Canada, part of the prestigious global Fulbright program, has awarded Kevin White of SUNY Oswego’s anthropology faculty a spring 2017 visiting research chair in trans-border studies at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario.

Books and Publications

Professor co-edits book examining global business incubation

Dr. Sarfraz Mian, professor of marketing and management in SUNY Oswego’s School of Business, joined two co-editors of a new book to take a global view of business incubation, using case studies to describe how technology business incubators by any name—accelerators, science parks, maker spaces—have evolved and gained traction as economic development drivers around the world.
