Students can find stress relief in Penfield
The Counseling Services Center, in cooperation with Penfield Library, will help students focus on their finals week studies by advising them about stress and providing massages from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11 in Instruction Room 2 of Penfield Library.
Counseling staff will be available to provide consultations regarding stress management and study techniques. In addition, massage therapists and two Reiki practitioners will provide brief massage and Reiki sessions to calm students from the stress of finals week. Massages will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Massage has been shown to improve concentration and alertness, while simultaneously reducing stress,” said counselor and event organizer Robin McAleese, “and it’s a great way to support students during a stressful time of the year.”
She added that staff would provide information about the importance of self-care and stress management for improving test performance.
