About the College hour

College Hour

Please follow the Calendar of Events to see the programs.

In the Fall, college hour will be during the 12:45-2:05 class period on Tuesdays. Most of the programming will be planned for 1:05-2:05 hour.

The College Hour is a time period dedicated to college and student life. This time period can be used to encourage involvement by allowing time dedicated to educational and social activities outside of the classroom or labs.

We still plan quite a few events at other times, such as evenings, but having an hour reserved each week during the daytime hours avoids scheduling conflicts and allows commuting students and faculty to participate more fully in campus activities. The entire campus will have time to relax, meet with faculty, attend a guest lecture, or any number of other events on campus.

This is a great opportunity to think about ways that you can help to enrich the campus culture with programs of value to students, faculty and staff. Suggested programs could include, but are not limited to:

  • Faculty and student presentations of research
  • Panel discussions on topics of interest
  • Readings of student and/or faculty creative work
  • Series of short films
  • Short concerts
  • Speakers from on or off campus
  • Exhibits with featured speakers
  • Short plays or readings

Please fill out the online College Hour Program form or down load and fill out the Word version of the form for Fall 2008 and submit it to the office of the Associate Provost Office, 703 Culkin Hall.
