The NTIS Service is the largest central resource for government-funded scientific and technical information available.

Provides access to unclassified defense-related information published by the US government.

National Climatic Data Center
 
Climatological Data
Contains meteorological data collected at weather stations across the United States. Back issues about New York are available in paper (v. 86-current, 1974-1998) in the library's journal collection. Back issues for all other states are available on microfiche (1981-1995) filed in the periodical microfiche collection.
 
Local Climatological Data
Summaries of temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, cloudiness, wind speed, and direction observations for several hundred cities in the U.S. and its territories. Back issues (1983-1993) are on microfiche filed in the periodical microfiche collection. 1994 - 1996 for New York State are available in paper format.

National Atmospheric Deposition Program
The purpose of the network is to collect data on the chemistry of precipitation for monitoring of geographical and temporal long-term trends.
 
Goddard Distributed Active Archive Center (DAAC)
The Goddard DAAC provides data and related services for global change research and education.
 
National Weather Service (NWS)
The NWS information database provides daily forcasts and warnings for severe weather events such as hurricanes, tornadoes, winter storms, flooding, and tsunamis.
 
National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS)
Provides access to global environmental data from satellites and other sources.
 
National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC)
Provides geophysical data from the Sun to the Earth and Earth's sea floor and solid earth environment, including Earth observations from space.
 
Global Change Master Directory (GCMD)
Provides descriptions of Earth science data sets covering agriculture, the atmosphere, biosphere, hydrosphere and oceans, snow and ice, geology and geophysics, paleoclimatology, and human dimensions of global change.
 
GHCN Global Climate, Periodicals/Media Desk - Media Reserve QC981.8.C5G49 1998
This database is on CD-ROM and contains long-term, monthly time series of four basic climatic parameters: mean temperature, total precipitation, mean sea level pressure, and mean station pressure.
