More than 25,000 companies, spending a minimum of $75,000 on national and regional advertising. Organized by type of product(s), brand names, SIC codes and "who's where in advertising." Company listings include the usual directory type info, together with the name of the advertising agency used. May sometimes also give total advertising expenditures for the company and type(s) of media used. Good for general information; don't bother if you are assembling a campaign for a specific product.

Our most comprehensive source of marketing statistics. Unfortunately, the interface for this product is not intuitive. Ask for an instruction sheet at the Information Desk. Issued semi-annually, this is made available to academic institutions when the data is approximately two-three years old. We still retain the print version, last published in 1994. Encyclopedia of Consumer Brands, BUSINESS PLAZA, REFERENCE ROOM, 1st FLOOR
A three volume set published in 1994, this provides information on leaders in various brand categories. While the statistics here are minimal, the historical profiles of brands are first rate. Each article runs about 3 pages and includes a bibliography. Use the index in the last volume, which covers the entire set.

Advertising Age 100 Leading National Advertisers, PERIODICALS, 2nd FLOOR
Issued each June, profiles top spenders and the products advertised. Often includes statistics on new products not found elsewhere. Ad Age has many other useful special issues.
 
Advertising Age Megabrands
Similar to the "Leading National Advertisers" this site contains the "Top megabrands ranked by measured U.S. media spending."
