Statement

This site was a labor of love. We worked for an entire semester trying out various versions and usability testing to make this an enjoyable for everyone. Two of the three versions of this project can be seen through this site. The older version(s) were created with Microsoft FrontPage, the newer is hand-coded using html and css. There are a few minor obstacles from it being true html, but time was of the essence.

Reason why designers stepped away from using microsoft was because of the differences from platform to platform -- the web is an experience for all and not just for microsoft users. Another reason was to solidify CSS and xhtml skills, because it's the only way to maintain a similar style from any computer, and any browser.

Tools used in this project was a HP scanner, Adobe Photoshop, JASC Paint Shop Pro, Internet Explorer version 6 and Netscape version 7.0. Images were scanned at at actual size in TIFF format for archival purposes and cropped to eliminate any extraneous graphics. From there, images were saved to JPG format for easy web access and resized in two versions to ensure quick loading of journal and page index sections. If you'd like a larger copy, click the image and one will appear. In the old version, a new window pops up with the full-sized image, in the new version it just takes over the current browser window. If this isn't palatalbe, right click on the image and ask the browser to display the image in a new tab or window.

Skills we learned to make this site were learned fro, Dr. Choi's Digital Library class, and Dr. Brindle's Hypermedia/multimedia class.
