- Q: Why was this Website created?
- A: This web
site was designed to give users full access to the plethora of
historical documentation contained within the Orrine Stone Diary
- Q: How is this system similar to browsing the journal?
- A: The "in journal form" was constructed to be browsed as if you were browsing the diary itself.
- Q: How do I search for specific references?
- A: It uses a query system called "Swish-e" to make finding specific references easy to search.
- Q: Why is this website even necessary?
- A: The general purpose of this website is to preserve otherwise old and deteriorating pages from a historical journal for future generations
- Q: What if I can't read some of the journal entries?
- A: Some transcripts are in plain text for easy reference in any internet
browser.
- Q: When and who created this site?
- A: It was created by Matt LaMacchia and Bob Bouchard in December of 2003 for ISC 490 under Dr. Choi at SUNY Oswego.
- Q: Who is this site targeted towards?
- A: It was designed to be useable for the general public.
- Q: Why are there missing entries, and question marks?
- A: Good question! truth is, we had a hard time deciphering Orrins handwriting, and in some cases, time took it's toll on the legibility of the ink.
- Q: Is this collection completed?
- A: It's not, this diary ends in 1816. But hopefully if I'm allowed I'll continue next semester. This is a project of ISC490: Digital Libraries taught by Dr, Choi. It's been a lot of fun throwing all of this together, come back often -- I might rebel and finish it anyways!
