Washington 2nd April 1861
Ex President Fillmore,
Sir, I take the liberty of enclosing a short article, taken from a San
Francisco paper showing my official acts on the pacific side did not
reflect any dissident upon your faithful discharge of that high trust
forced upon you by Providence.
You will confer a particular favor on me by forwarding a letter to
President Lincoln recommending me for a similar situation under his
administration.
I have the honor to be very respectively your
obt. Senator
Dr. Anson Dart Later
