Brooklyn 9th January 1850 Dear Madam, On the 23rd of last month I forwarded to you by mayor wells has express, a large gothic rosewood chair as in present to you from Mrs. Luther; accompanied by a short note and was addressed as follows " Hon Millard Fillmore, to be left at his house in Buffalo NY." And on the 26th or 27th I believe Mrs. Luther addresses a letter to you under an envelope to the Fillmore address at Buffalo, upon the subject of said chair. To make the transmission of the chair. The , I addressed it to Mr. Fillmore, and the envelope of Mrs.'s L.'s letter was also directed to that is might you under his ranch. Having heard nothing from you respecting its reception and knowing that a fine occurred at mayor Wells's defeat in Buffalo about that since we begin to fear that the chair may have been consumed in the conflagration , or that you may not have been at home.
