City January 6th 1850 Dear Sister, I acknowledge my in not writing to you. Sooner I have had occasions to write to M. Fillmore I have his supply. I have been very busily employed in the P.O. making preparation for my quarterly returned on the first of January. I have very special to communicate at this time except that we all are well. I.e. my family, my wives son Powers has been very sick but is now better. I think traveling war was a great benefit to us for my health and also my wife has much improved since we are at Buffalo. I am able to assist in my office as formerly until 11 October without inconvenience, and my wife does her own work without hired help. Sarah only helping morning and evening for she attends school. I feel much encouraged about the health of W. Powers, she told me to say that it is better now than it has been in several years spent. We keep or rather board the parrot (or perhaps may buy it) and when Sarah returns from school before she gets into the house her name is called by the bird and there is a chattering between them as soon as she cores into the room. I have written about the parrot to please Sarah who thinks "Aunt Fillmore's family is the best in the world" and wants to be remembered to all of them and may also - write and let me know about sister Mays health and all you family accept our best wishes for your health & happiness our love to sister Mary and Powers . From your affectionate Brother David Powers Mrs A. Fillmore |
