Marcus Shauldy Home of Millard Fillmore Hon sir an old soldier of Gen Perer B Portiss Brigade of NY volunteers
in 1814 uses very much impaired during that campaign in upper Canada
at fort Erie. Chippewa & bridgewaters so much so that he has never
been able to regain his former good health and at this time he has but
very feeble means of supporting himself and formally resides in County
NY from 1814 to 1839. Since the Erie PA by misfortune and sickness I
am to a state of want and I am compelled to grace your kind heart to
assert me in getting the land height house at this harbor you will be
by the letter of the hon. Mr. Putnam from Wyoming that he will do all
he cared for me also his son with Mr. Spalding of Buffalo will do all
they can for me. I beg a helping hand from you and my family last 5
Whig votes at the election for the good of our country. In great faith
that you could get me appointed with a petition followed with some of
the best names in our country. So will you be so good as to inform me
by letter if you will help a poor ready old soldier that at the age
of 19 full of health volunteers at Batavia and into Canada and was in
all the battles of that campaign and was so much in pain by sickness
as never at no time since I have been able to it the old shattered boat
of my life in the cold stream of beginning for help kind for lend a
