Welcome to the B. Burt Papers Digital Library! It was created for an Information Science - 490 class at SUNY Oswego. It is meant as a learning tool for anyone who wishes to learn about The Great Lakes Region and the shipping business of the 19th century. Another good portion of the documents deal with James Van Cleve and his research of the history and route of Champlain - the old world explorer. Handdraw maps deal out his route through the lakes of the region.

Many of these items were chosen to be digitized because I felt they fit the side of this collection that I wanted to portray. I chose to digitize the many handdrawn maps and personal correspondance that was contained within the collection. This shows the talent of the creator as well as the personal side.

Since these items were once all personal effects, I dont believe there are any copyrights on them. The entire collection is housed at Penfield Library at SUNY Oswego in Oswego, NY.
