8.3 Evaluation of Web Sites
How should you evaluate web sites you have located? Remember the Four Big Criteria discussed earlier:
- Is it useful or relevant to your topic?
- Is the site timely? Is there a publication date, and has it been updated recently?
- Is the site appropriate for your purposes? Is it scholarly or general? Is it a .com, .edu, or .gov?
- Is the site authoritative? Is it signed? Is contact information provided? What are the author's credentials? Remember, anyone can create a web site.
