8.2 Addresses
Uniform Resource Locators (URLs for short) are used to locate files of information called sites, on remote computers. URLs are the "address" of these files, and are specific to each file or site. For example, the URL for the library at SUNY Oswego is:
http://www.oswego.edu/library/
Notice the ".edu" means that the entity producing it is an educational institution.
You've probably seen lots of other endings on web addresses. Here are some other examples:
