The Instructional Media Collection (IMC) contains videos for classroom use and is housed behind the 2nd Floor Service Desk of Penfield Library.
Faculty may borrow IMC material for up to 2 weeks with 1 renewal subject to holds and recalls. Extensions are negotiated with librarians only; staff and student workers cannot negotiate due dates or override the normal due date.
Scheduling a Video:
Faculty may schedule a video for classroom use by either filling out the Schedule a Video for Classroom Use Form or by calling the 2nd Floor Service Desk at 315-312-3560. Because many videos are used in class by several instructors, we strongly encourage scheduling the video as far in advance as possible to avoid time conflicts.
Scheduled videos may be picked up at the Check-Out & Reserves Desk on the first floor of the library, or the 2nd Floor Service Desk staff can deliver videos to the faculty member’s department (48-hour notice required). The faculty member may return the video(s) to the library or schedule a pickup with the 2nd Floor Service Desk staff.
If a faculty member wants a student to pick up a video for him/her, the faculty member must fill out a Faculty Assistant Authorization Form (pdf).
Faculty can put their personal videos or videos from our Media collection “On Reserve” in the library. The library is equipped for individual or small-group viewing of videos. If you need to show a video to your entire class, first check with your department about the availability of a media cart or contact Campus Life at 315-312-2301 to find a classroom that can support video viewing. Penfield Classroom 2 may be reserved for video viewing when scheduled classes are not using it. Use the Request a Library Instruction Class Form to schedule the room. Include a note in the comments box describing your specific needs.
Since the IMC is a shared collection intended primarily for in-class use by faculty, we generally do not put IMC videos on reserve. Exceptions may be made for a 2-week period when the video is not scheduled for in-class viewing. Please contact 2nd Floor Service Desk staff for details.
Students must view IMC videos in the library.
Students may use IMC videos for classroom presentations with a completed authorization form signed by their instructor. These forms are also available at the Library’s 2nd Floor Service Desk.
Questions about the IMC collection and this scheduling service will be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or to the 2nd Floor Service Desk (315-312-3560).
