Instructional Media Collection

Penfield Library has several media collections, all on the second floor. Use the library catalog to search for the media item(s) you need. To make your search more efficient, select Advanced Search and limit your results by selecting Media from the Document Types pull-down menu. Equipment for viewing or listening to items in the media collection is available during all hours the library is open.

Instructional Media Collection (IMC)

General Media Collection: This is a circulating collection of video tapes, DVDs, language CDs and records, audio tapes (some books on tape), and slides. This material is on open shelves for patrons to browse.
Note: To search for audiobooks, use the online catalog's Advanced Search mode and "Limit by Collection" to Media Collection, 2nd Floor and "Limit by Document Type" to Audiocassette. Add author and/or title words to the upper search boxes to search for particular works. Leaving these upper search boxes blank and searching will provide a complete list.

VHS and DVD videos in the general media collection may be viewed in the library or checked out for 14 days.

Popular DVDs: Is a circulating collection of currently released videos that are kept in a display at the Periodicals/Media Desk. They may be viewed in the library or checked out for 14 days.

Music CDs: Audio compact discs are located behind the Periodicals/Media Desk. This selective collection is created to complement the Music Department's listening collection, as well as to provide popular, contemporary music to the campus community. CDs may be listened to in the library or checked out for 14 days.
