Donations

Penfield Library welcomes your donations of books and media in good condition. Small quantities of materials may be dropped off at the Research Help Desk anytime. For more information contact Deborah Curry, Coordinator of Collection Development/Acquisitions, (312-3545), deborah.curry@oswego.edu.

We accept the following:

  • Books (paperback or hardcover; fiction or nonfiction)
  • Recordings -- CDs, DVDs
  • Children's books

We do not accept:

  • Most magazines and journals (we accept National Geographic - please ask about other specific titles)
  • Old encyclopedias
  • Dirty, wet or smelly books
  • Reader's Digest condensed books
  • Paperback romance novels
  • VHS tapes

Need a receipt? Please give us your name, address, and an item count by type (# hardcover, # paperback, etc.) when you drop off your donation, and we will send you a letter of receipt. We do not assign value to your donation.

All donations will first be reviewed for possible addition to our collection. Those items not selected will be sold at our big spring book sale. This is a major fundraiser for the library; the proceeds are used for purchasing new library resources. We very much appreciate your support!
