Oswego State Mens Club Hockey News
The Oswego State Mens Club Hockey team opened its regular
season by dropping a tough fought contest at Binghamton, losing 7-5 in an NECHL
game. Scoring their first Laker goals were freshman Chris Covel (2) and Junior
Rob Lippolis while veterans Jordan Romano and Nick Atkins also scored. Assists
were credited to James Mitchell, Atkins, Romano, Adam Webster (2), Matt Saramak
and Brad Kervin. Anthony Sellitti had 20 saves for the Lakers. Oswego enjoyed a large number of fans who
traveled to the game.
The following night, Oswego traveled to Syracuse to face the
Orangemen during their Homecoming Weekend and the Lakers came away with a hard
fought victory, defeating Syracuse 5-3.
Adam Webster started the scoring with Jordan Romano, Tim Rinck
and Chris Covel (2) adding goals. Assisting were Saramak, Atkins and
newcomers Ryan Farrell and Mike Steinke. The star of the game however,
was
sophomore goalie Mike Reid who was spectacular in the net for Oswego as
he made
51 saves. Once again, the Oswego fans
were very supportive and nearly outnumbered the Syracuse fans.
Coach Jay Peacock is very pleased with the hard work and
leadership that Captain Matt Saramak , Assistant Captains Greg Distin and Adam
Webster and Club President Brad Kervin
have shown in working with the new players on the team.
The Lakers will face Ithaca on Saturday when they travel to
Lynah Rink on the Cornell University Campus for an NECHL game. Oswego is a D1
ACHA team. The complete roster and game schedule is on their website at www.oswego.edu/icehockey . The team
is sponsored by the Student Association of Oswego State University.
