The
2009-10 Oswego State Mens Club
Hockey team and
their alumni played in the second annual alumni game and like last
year, the game ended in a 7 – 7 tie after regulation but unlike last
year, the Lakers defeated the alumni in 3-2
shootout.
Scoring goals were Matt Saramak,
Mike Renick (2), Greg Distin (Fulton),
Chase Collins, Eric Zerrahn (Oswego)
and Adam Webster with assists credited to Chris Covel,
Jordan Romano, Ryan McAleer and Greg Molfese. Goals
scored during
the shoot out were by
Greg Distin,
Chris Covel and Mike Renick,
who scored the game winning goal.
Twenty
alumni returned for the annual game and Head Coach Jay Peacock thanked
them for their continued support of the program,
which is in its seventh year. .
He noted that this was a great way to start off the season and that it
is good way for
the freshman to get a feel for the pace of playing hockey at the
college level.
Senior
Assistant Captain Greg Distin was
also presented his Academic All American certificate after the game.
The honor of being named to the Academic All American
Team is
awarded to those players that have an overall GPA of higher than 3.2.
The
Lakers travel to Binghamton on Friday for the start of the NECHL season
and then travel to Syracuse for a non-league game on Saturday
.
