Oswego Splits Weekend with Cornell and Ithaca

The Oswego State Men’s Club Hockey team went 1-1 in recent home action at the Campus Center Rink. The Lakers hosted Cornell and lost to the visiting team 4-3. Trailing 4-1, Oswego clawed their way back but time ran out as the Lakers couldn’t put the tying goal in the net. Laker goals were scored by Jamie Shutts (Fulton) and Eric Zerrahn (2) (Oswego) with assists credited to Tim Paulson and Shutts. Sophomore goaltender Anthony Sellitti had 27 saves in the net.
The following night, the Ithaca Bombers traveled to Oswego and the Lakers came out on top by a score of 5-3. Scoring for Oswego were Jordan Romano, Shutts (2), Andrew Lazarro (Oswego) and Tim Rinck. Assisting on the goals were Rinck, Romano, Fabian Loeprick, Brad Kervin, Nick Atkins (Auburn) and Chase Collins. Mike Reid stopped 16 shots.
The Lakers will be hosting Cortland on Saturday, February 14. This will be the final home game this year and Coach Jay Peacock and the rest of the Laker team will be recognizing the three seniors who will be playing their final home game of their college careers – Jamie Shutts (Fulton), Josh Gagnon (Clinton) and Ethen Ericksen (Ogdensburg). The game starts at 7:00 and there is no admission charge.
Oswego will be traveling to Rutgers University the weekend of February 28 for the NECHL playoffs. They are the defending 2008 champions.
