Lakers Win Three Over Past Two Weeks

The Oswego State Men Club Hockey team went 3-1 in recent league and non-league action.
The Lakers hosted the Syracuse University Orangemen on Friday, Jan. 23 at the Campus Center Ice Arena. Oswego trailed 2 1 late in the third period when Syracuse was assessed a penalty with 48 seconds to go in the game. Oswego pulled their goalie for the extra player and Tim Rinck scored the tying goal with 19 seconds left in regulation. The two teams then played a 5 minute overtime period which went scoreless. A shoot out was held and Oswego scored twice while Laker goalie Anthony Sellitti had only one scored on him. Oswego goals were scored by Tim Rinck (2), assisted by Jordan Romano and Nick Atkins (Auburn). Scoring for the Lakers in the shootout were Rinck and Greg Distin (Fulton). Anthony Sellitti had 26 saves.
The following night St. Bonaventure traveled to Oswego for an NECHL game and defeated Oswego 7 3. Scoring for Osweg were Jamie Shutts (Fulton) (2) and Rinck. Assists were credited to Distin, Dustin Kennedy (Oswego Admirals) (2), Fabian Loeprick and Nick Atkins. Anthony Sellitti had 61 saves for Oswego.
The next weekend the Lakers traveled to Binghamton to face the Bearcats at the Polar Cap Ice Arena and came away with an important league win in a high scoring game, defeating Binghamton 9 6. Rinck had his second hat trick in 2 weekends and other Lakers who scored were Matt Saramak, Distin, Romano, Kennedy and Loeprick. Assisting were Shutts (4), Tim Paulson, Brad Kervin, Chase Collins, Brandon Clark and Romano. Goaltending duties were split between Sellitti and Mike Reid for a total of 25 saves.
Oswego then faced Cornell for the first time this year at Lynah Arena on the Cornell Campus. The score of the game was 2 2 at the end of the second period when Oswego came out and scored 6 goals in the third period to defeat Cornell 8 3. Scoring for the Lakers were Chase Collins (4), Rinck, Shutts, Saramak and Kervin. Assisting on the goals were Distin, Loeprick, Kervin, Ibarluzea, Paulson and Shutts. Both goaltenders played with a combined 29 saves.
The Lakers will host Cornell on Friday, Feb. 6 and Ithaca on Saturday, Feb. 7 in NECHL action. The games will start at 7:00 and are played at the Lakers home rink at the Campus Center Ice Arena on the Oswego State Campus. Admission is free to all home games. Oswego is a D1 ACHA team and member of the NECHL.
