First Annual Laker Trophy Game

The Oswego State Men’s Club Hockey team went 1-1 in recent games. The
Lakers traveled to St. Bonaventure University for an NECHL League game and defeated
the Bonnies 4-3. Scoring for Oswego were Brandon Clark, Nick Atkins(Auburn), Jamie
Shutts (Fulton) and Tim Rinck. Assisting on the goals were Chris Cavanaugh and
Nick Iburluzea. Goaltender Anthony Sellitti (Boston Bulldogs) recorded his first
collegiate win with 29 saves for Oswego
The following day the Lakers traveled to Mercyhurst for a non-league contest
and for the first annual “Laker Trophy” game. The two teams were evenly
matched and the score was 4-4 with 10 minutes left to go in the game, but playing
with a shortened bench, Oswego ran out of steam and the Mercyhurst Lakers scored
4 quick goals to win the game 8-4 and to win the Laker Trophy.
Oswego goals were scored by Chris Cavanaugh, Jordan Romano, Chase Collins and
Eric Zerrahn(Oswego) with assists being credited to Tim Rinck, Chase Collins,
Matt Saramak(2), James Mitchell (2) and Jamie Shutts. Goaltending duties were
split between Mike Reid and Anthony Sellitti with a combined 44 shots.
Oswego travels to Rutgers this weekend for a 2 game league series and then
to Buffalo next week. They will host Duquesne on Saturday, November 8. Admission
to the games is always free. The team is coached by Jay Peacock and Nick Leuthauser.
