Penn State-Berks Takes Two From Oswego

The Oswego State Men’s Club Hockey team opened its 2008-09 NECHL season
by losing its first two games to Penn- State Berks at the Campus Center Rink.
The first game saw the Lakers fall to the Nittany Lions by a score of 7-3. Scoring
for Oswego were Greg Distin (Fulton), Eric Zerrahn (Oswego) and Dustin Kennedy
(Oswego Admirals) with Laker assists being credited to Jamie Shutts (Fulton),
Brandon Clark, Kennedy and Zerrahn. Goalie Anthony Sellitti had 38 saves in the
loss.
The following night the Lakers again fell to Penn State 10-3. Zerrahn and Shutts
(2) had the Oswego goals assisted by Clark, Shutts and Kennedy. The two Laker
goaltenders split the duties in the net with Sellitti facing 21 shots and Mike
Reid facing 6.
The Lakers rebounded the following weekend when they traveled to Ithaca and
defeated the Bombers by a score of 7-3. Seven different Oswego players scored-
Nick Atkins (Auburn), Dustin Kennedy, Tim Rinck, Ethen Ericksen, Zerrahn, Matt
Saramak and Shutts. Credited with assists were Rinck, Clark, Shutts (2), Chris
Cavanaugh , Tim Paulson (NSA), Jordan Romano and Distin. Goalie Reid had 31 saves
for the Lakers.
Oswego will travel to St. Bonaventure this Friday for an NECHL league game
and on Saturday will travel to D1 ACHA powerhouse Mercyhurst. Both Mercyhurst
and Oswego are nicknamed “The Lakers”. The winner of the game will
be presented with the “Laker Trophy” , an award which will be given
annually to the Laker team which wins this non-league contest.
Head coach of the Lakers is Jay Peacock, assisted by Nick Leuthauser. The team
is sponsored by The Club House Tavern, Pathfinder Bank, Monster Energy Drink,

of Oswego State University.
