In only its fourth year of existence, the Oswego State Men's Club Hockey team had faced Cornell 6 times, always losing to the Big Red. This past weekend that changed as the host Lakers defeated Cornell 4-2 at the Campus Center Rink. Cornell scored first, but then Oswego answered with 3 straight goals to ice the win. Scoring for Oswego were Eric Zerrahn (Oswego) 2, Jamie Shutts (Fulton/Morrisville) and Brandon Clarke. Assists were credited to Tim Rinck, Shutts, Dustin Kennedy(Oswego Admirals) and James Mitchell. Senior goalie Greg Feiden had 24 saves for the Lakers.
The Lakers traveled to Ithaca for their first meeting of the season two days later. Playing with a shortened bench due to injuries and illness, Ithaca defeated Oswego 6-3. Kennedy, Rinck and Nick Atkins (Auburn) scored for the Lakers with assists going to Rinck and Jordan Romano(Penfield)2. Goalies Mike Whittaker and Greg Feiden split the goaltending duties for Oswego.
