Presidential Scholars

On behalf of all Presidential Scholars, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the supporters of the Presidential Scholars program at SUNY Oswego. For more than a decade, your generosity has benefited more than 1,000 students like me.  Faced with the increasing costs of education, I feel an enormous relief that you have helped to lift a majority of this weight from my shoulders.

To be a Presidential Scholar is a true honor and accomplishment.  After I receive my undergraduate degree in Psychology this May, I will remain at Oswego to earn my MS/CAS degree in School Counseling.  Due to my Presidential Scholarship, I am able to immediately pursue graduate studies.  I find myself not faced with as many loans and financial burdens as so many of my classmates, and that is a direct result of your generosity.  Thank you! 

Oswego has afforded me many memorable and life-changing opportunities both in and out of the classroom setting.  Without my Presidential Scholarship, I would not have been able to go away to school, and certainly would not have had the opportunities Oswego has offered me.  I am a member of Psi Chi, the International Honor Society of Psychology, have made invaluable connections at the Telefund, and have given back to the campus and the community by volunteering at Mentor Oswego.  None of these achievements would be possible without my Presidential Scholarship.  Continued support to the Presidential Scholarship is a crucial element of the program's success.  As a student Telefund caller, I know first hand how important philanthropy is to our scholarship program.  I also know how challenging it is to raise a significant donation.

The past support from corporations, foundations, alumni and friends of the college has helped Oswego provide the highest quality education to its students.  Your continued support in this challenging economy is especially meaningful to Presidential Scholars.  Providing students with access to superior educational opportunities is the greatest legacy that one generation can leave to another.

I want to again share my sincere appreciation for your support of the Presidential Scholarship program.  Your gifts have made all the difference in my SUNY Oswego experience.
