Mission: The chief goal of the Oswego College Foundation, Inc. is to
raise and manage private support to advance SUNY Oswego's mission.
The foundation, incorporated in 1947, was established to foster,
encourage, promote and support the scientific, literary, educational and
cultural purposes of Oswego State. As a wholly not-for-profit corporation
chartered by the State of New York, the foundation exists solely to
provide the measure of private support which distinguishes Oswego from other
tax-assisted institutions in New York state.
Governance: The foundation is governed by a volunteer Board
of Directors made up of alumni, parents, and friends of Oswego State.
The board selects the chairperson of the board as well as the vice chair
and the secretary. The board also sets policy, approves the operating
budget and holds fiduciary responsibility of private funds contributed to the
foundation.
Professional Services: The foundation accepts both restricted and
unrestricted gifts and provides investment management, general administration
services, accounting, gift processing and database management relating to gifts
and donors, including the production of reports for all account holders.
More than fund-raising: Foundation operations include servicing more
than 400 active accounts in support of academic priorities, maintaining 65,000
alumni/development files, processing and stewardship of all gifts, and managing
$13 million in assets.
