The Oswego College Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation established for the advancement of SUNY Oswego.
Mission: The chief goal of the Oswego College Foundation, Inc. is to raise and manage private support to advance SUNY Oswego's mission. The 501 (c) (3) foundation, incorporated in 1947, was established to foster, encourage, promote and support the scientific, literary, educational and cultural purposes of SUNY Oswego. As a wholly not-for-profit corporation chartered by the State of New York, the foundation exists solely to provide the measure of private support which distinguishes Oswego from other tax-assisted institutions in New York state.
Governance: The foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of alumni, parents, and friends of SUNY Oswego. The board selects the chairperson of the board as well as the vice chair and the secretary. The board also sets policy, approves the operating budget and holds fiduciary responsibility of private funds contributed to the foundation.
Professional Services: The foundation accepts both restricted and unrestricted gifts and provides investment management, general administration services, accounting, gift processing and database management relating to gifts and donors, including the production of reports for all account holders.
More than Fund-raising: Foundation operations include servicing more than 500 active accounts in support of academic priorities, maintaining more than 77,000 alumni/development files, processing and stewardship of all gifts, and managing nearly $21 million in assets.
