SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center & Syracuse Educational Opportunity Center
Partner to Benefit the Community
Partnership Overview:
The SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center has partnered with the Syracuse EOC to pilot workplace skills programming that anyone can afford. By supporting skill development that meets employer needs, this partnership is designed to help participants get back to work and become more competitive in the job market. The first pilot program focuses on a Computer Skills Training Certificate Program. Look for more affordable workplace training opportunities that meet employer needs coming this fall.
Computer Skills Training Program:
The Computer Skills Training Program offers a self-paced learning environment with instructor support. At any given time, one student could be working on introductory skills in Word while another could be working to learn Access. Students are given the opportunity to demonstrate their current abilities and work to fill knowledge gaps. This instructional strategy offers participants the unique opportunity to skip instruction on the things they already know and get straight to new learning opportunities.
