Taking Steps for the Future

SUNY Oswego Wireless Configuration Instructions for PC Computers

Please note the following steps are for the very first time you access the SUNY Oswego wireless network. This is a one-time configuration. Once your device has been properly configured for the wireless network, you will simply need to authenticate with your Laker NetID to get connected.

1) While in a SUNY Oswego wireless-enabled space, view your wireless networks and connect to "Oswego-Setup." This is the network that will configure your machine. You may encounter a warning about the network being unsecured. If so, click "Connect Anyway."

If you still have problems connecting to this network, check to make sure you are completely disconnected from any other wireless networks in range. Simply click on the name of the other wireless network(s) and click the "Disconnect" button.

2) Once you are connected to "Oswego-Setup," launch a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. The browser should automatically direct you to the "SUNY Oswego Wireless Configuration" web page shown below. On this page, click the "Click here to have your device automatically configured" link to start the configuration process.

3) A new window will open similar to the one below. If you agree to the end-user license agreement, click the checkbox in the lower right of the window and then click the "Start" button. This will start the process of loading the automatic configuration wizard called "XpressConnect."

4) At this point, you may be prompted to install and/or run an ActiveX Control or a Java Applet. In either case, choose to accept the installation.

5) You will then see a window similar to the one below. Follow the instructions and continue through the installation windows. For some operating systems, a reboot may be required. If so, reboot your system and the install process will continue upon reboot.
