WebMail: Basics
Communications Express (CE) is SUNY Oswego’s web-based mail reader.    Come to this workshop to see and learn how to read your SUNY Oswego email from anywhere using a web browser.  Topics covered include general use, creating contacts in the address book, creating address groups, managing folders, and automatically including a signature at the end of each message you send.  This workshop combines lecture with hands-on practice.

ARGOS Reports
Have you heard of ARGOS?  Do you want to know what it is?  Would you like to have better access to more Banner data quicker?  Would you like to control when and how you get your reports?  If you said yes to any of the above, you should sign up and check this presentation out.  We will explain the installation and execution of simple ARGOS reports for use with Banner.  A banner account is required to attend.  This workshop combines lecture with hands-on practice. Communications Express (CE) is SUNY Oswego’s web-based mail reader.    Aside from general sending and receiving of email, CE offers additional features including the ability to forward your mail to another email address, generate automated replies when you are away from your email, and create spam and mail filters for weeding out unwanted email messages.  This workshop combines lecture with hands-on practice.

ANGEL Community Groups: Basics
This workshop introduces Community Groups - a feature within the ANGEL learning management system that allows the campus community to participate in online group activity. ANGEL has been traditionally used on campus for faculty teaching courses, but you don’t need to be teaching a course to use this feature of ANGEL.  You will have the opportunity to learn how community groups can contribute to and help organize committee work, research projects, and group discussions.  You will experience being a community group member first hand, learn campus policies concerning community groups, and learn how to request your own community group.  This workshop combines lecture with hands-on practice.

Managing Mailing Lists with Mailman
Mailman is SUNY Oswego’s software for managing mailing lists.  Similar to a personal electronic address group, mailing lists combine a group of email addresses into one and anyone can send email to it.  Common uses of mailing lists include departmental emails, committee work, and general discussions.  Information and demonstrations on how to create and manage a mailing list (all from the web) will be presented.   This workshop combines lecture with hands-on practice.

This workshop introduces you to the new SUNY Oswego on iTunes U site and the world of podcasting. Come learn about what podcasting is and how it is being used. Learn about creating multimedia productions for use with podcasting and see and learn how the campus is using the SUNY Oswego on iTunes U site to podcast lectures, classes, presentations, and more. This workshop is intended for anyone who needs to learn the basics of how to login and use a computer at SUNY Oswego.  You will have an opportunity to activate your SUNY Oswego computer/email account (if you haven’t already done so), learn how to login to a computer, learn the basics of navigating the computer and how to use an Internet Web browser.  This workshop combines lecture with hands-on practice.

Backing Up Your Computer Data
This workshop will discuss the different methods to backup your computer data, why to do it and how often it should be done. Backing up to different media, including jump drives and CDs, using software available on campus in the computer labs and in the office will be demonstrated.  Attendees will get an opportunity to practice writing to a CD.

Excel 2007: Functions
This workshop will explore the functions and formulas built into Excel, including data, logical (if-then), and text functions.  We will build a custom formula by combining several functions into one.  Bring your own examples of functions you use and share them with the class. This workshop will be taught in the new Microsoft Excel 2007 version, but the functions learned can be applied in previous versions as well. Meeting Maker calendar software
Meeting Maker is calendaring software currently being used by some departments on campus to easily track their own calendar, view other people’s calendars, and schedule meetings within and across departments.   Topics covered in this workshop include an overview of how Meeting Maker works, creating a meeting for yourself and others, creating a private event, setting up email notifications, and accessing the calendar from the Web.  There is a licensing fee for those interested in using Meeting Maker. This workshop will be hosted as a webex session, it will be an online demonstration of Meeting Maker that you watch from your own computer wherever that may be.  This workshop is limited to 9 participants.

PowerPoint 2007: Seminar
Further your knowledge of Microsoft's PowerPoint with this seminar workshop.  We will begin with a brief overview of PowerPoint basics.   Then we will go on to learn how to spice up your slide presentations with multimedia features including adding and manipulating backgrounds, templates, graphics, sound, animations, transitions, and video clips including QuickTime movies.  Additional topics include using the “Package for CD” utility, methods used to post presentations to a web page, including using our licensed Impatica for Powerpoint software.  This workshop will be taught in the new Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 version, but the functions learned can be applied in previous versions as well.  This workshop will combine lecture with hands-on practice.
