How are you using technology in your job?

On a daily basis for research, data entry, communication with entire department and other campus departments, student communication and some entertainment purposes too.

In what way has technology transformed your job?

With the resources that technology provides, we are able to better serve staff and student alike with information, data sheets, updated materials constantly and efficiently at the “stroke of a key”.

What does technology add that would not be possible without it?

With technology, we no longer have to wait for decisions if a person is not in the office at that time, we can do it by email or fax and in particular for students needing to get a class registration done timely or last minute.  It also increases the ability of a wider, faster way of communication on all levels.

How do you see technology improving learning?

I see more people being able to take advantage of on-line courses.  Such as professional working individuals and students who need a course that we have to offer or they may need to finish their college education and are not able to attend a classroom setting.  Networking provides information that you may not have gotten any other way.

In what ways do you find technology frustrating?

Keeping up with all the information that is accessible.  Especially the options that are available and keep changing.

How are you using technology in interesting or unique ways?

I wouldn’t say I use it in unique ways, more like necessary in order to complete most of my daily tasks.  As far as interesting goes, every time I turn on any piece of equipment, such as a computer, fax, or copier, it is always interesting to see where it takes me.

How are you using technology to develop and deliver staff development?

Not quite sure what you mean by staff development, but email is my means of staff development.  I send the email and wait to see what develops!

How are you applying  technology in your personal life?

My nephew is a weekend sports anchor for a TV station that we cannot get here, but I can access him on the internet to see his broadcast.  He is a SUNY Oswego Alumni.  It keeps us close and I get to critique him; he really loves that!

Is there a single technological  item you can't imagine living without?

Not really, I’m a survivor from the “Old School” of thought…..where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Is there a particular technological item that you plan on learning  and/or purchasing in the near future?

No, I’m technologically challenged enough for now.
