What is Pharos Uniprint?
Pharos Uniprint is a print management solution for Campus Technology Services computer labs. It is replacing our current printing solution and adding valuable new features.
Previously, students and faculty could only print to a CTS lab printer if they were seated in that lab, using a lab computer. With Pharos, you will be able to print to CTS lab printers from your own personal laptop, as well as residence hall rooms. Go to the CTS download page and download the install package for your desired printer.
Where is Pharos currently installed?
For the summer of 2007, Pharos allow printing to the CTS computer lab in Snygg Hall, rooms 6 & 8.
Will I notice any difference when printing via Pharos?
Pharos allows us to warn you if you are printing to a color printer, or accidentally printing a document several times. If you meet these criteria, a popup will make sure you want to print what you have chosen.
Which operating systems are supported?
Pharos works with the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows 2000/XP
- Vista Home Basic, Vista Home Premium, Vista Business and Vista Ultimate editions
- Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4, and 10.5
How does printing via Pharos work?
Once you have installed the Pharos printer package, you will be able to select the appropriate lab printer from your computer's Print dialog box. Once you issue a print command, a popup will require you to enter your CTS username and password. The document will print once you've authenticated correctly.
If you are using the campus wireless internet, you will need to download and install the campus VPN in order to print using Pharos. This can also be downloaded from the CTS download page.
Did my print quota change?
No. Print quotas remain set at 500 pages per semester.
Will I still be able to purchase additional pages?
Yes, additional pages can still be purchased through the Telecommunications office in 105 Culkin Hall. You can check out our printing policies here.
