Email quota basics
Email quotas are an assigned limit for the amount of space your CTS email account occupies on our server. Quotas are imposed to fairly divide the resources on our server among the campus community.

SUNY Oswego faculty and staff are currently allocated 300MB of email storage space; students are allocated 75MB.

Checking your email quota status
You can check your current email storage space usage quickly and easily by logging into the CTS Account Tools page. Once you have logged in, click the "Check Email Quota" link on the left.

Your current quota usage will be displayed as a colored pie chart in the center window, as illustrated below:

Email quota warning messages

If you come close to going over your email quota, you will receive an emailed warning message.  This message comes from the "Mail Administrator" and has a subject of "WARNING: Mail Quota Limit."  The message describes a little bit about quotas, how to check your email quota, and some things you can do to reduce your usage.  If you receive one of these messages, you should review your email messages and delete those that you no longer need.  If you wish to back up email messages before deletion, you can consult the " Moving Email From the Mail Server to Your Local PC" instructions.  Please note that once you reach or exceed your allocated amount, you will not be able to send or receive new email.
