Email Resources - Outlook: Configuring a New Account
Taking Steps for the Future
  1. Click the Tools menu.
  2. Select Email Accounts.
  3. Click the Add a new mail account button.
  4. Click the IMAP button. Click Next to continue.
  5. Fill out the User Information section as follows:
    • In the Your Name field, enter your first and last name.
    • In the Email Address field, enter your CTS email address.
  6. Fill out the Server Information section as follows:
    • Enter 'imap-server.oswego.edu' as the IMAP mail server name.
    • Enter 'smtp-server.oswego.edu' as the outgoing (SMTP) mail server name.
  7. Fill out the Login Information section as follows:
    • In the User Name field, enter your CTS email username only.
    • In the Password field, enter your CTS email password.
  8. Click the More Settings button.
  9. Click the General tab.
  10. In the first field, type "Oswego Email" as the name this account will be referred to.
  11. Click the Outgoing Server tab, and check My Outgoing Server requires authentication.
  12. Click the Advanced tab.
  13. Under the Outgoing Server (SMTP) section, uncheck the box for This server uses encrypted authentication and change the port number to 587.
  14. Click OK to return to the main prefs window.
  15. Click the Next button, then click the Finish button.
