- Open Apple Mail.
- From the Mail menu, click Preferences,
- Click the Accounts icon in the Mail Preferences window.
- Click Create Account.
- You will be prompted for some personal information. Complete the fields as follows:
- Choose IMAP from the pop-up menu.
- For the Description field, type a distinguishing name for the account.
- For the Full Name field, type your full name.
- For the Email Address field, type your email address.
- Click Continue.
- The next window will prompt you for your incoming mail server information. Fill out fields as follows:
- For the Incoming Mail Server field, type "imap-server.oswego.edu" (without the quotes).
- For the User Name field, type your Laker NetID.
- For the Password field, type your Laker NetID password.
- The next window will prompt you for your outgoing mail server information. Fill out fields as follows:
- For the Outgoing Mail Server field, type "smtp-server.oswego.edu" (without the quotes).
- Check the Use Authentication box. Your Laker NetID and password should be filled in already here.
- Click Continue.
- An Account Summary screen will display. Verify that all your information is correct, then click Continue.
- Click Done. You will be returned to the Accounts pane.
- Under the Account Information tab, click the SMTP Server Settings pulldown menu.
- Click the Advanced tab.
- Click the Use Default Ports button and click OK.
- Close the window.
