Campus Technology Services (CTS) offers assistance to faculty and staff wishing to convert 35mm slides, 35mm negatives (color & black and white) and large format transparencies into digital images. We provide this service in room 37A Lanigan where there is an Epson Perfection 4990 Photo Scan scanner attached to a PC. With some assistance from our Communication Media Design Specialist also located in room 37A Lanigan, you can scan your media and if necessary use digital correction software for media that may have dust or scratches on them. 35mm slides can be scanned eight at a time. The scanner scans up to 4800 x 9600 dpi resolution with 48 bit color depth. You should bring some type of storage device such as a USB Flash drive to save your images to. Alternatively, we can save them to the hard drive of the scanning PC and burn the images to a CD.
If you are interested in using this 35mm slide scanning service, please visit room 37B Lanigan during normal business hours (8am - 4pm) or schedule an appointment with Jim Ford, our Communication Media Design Specialist, by phone at x3502 or by email at ford@oswego.edu. This service is available to faculty and staff of SUNY Oswego at no charge.
