Each student, faculty, and staff at SUNY Oswego has a computer account for their e-mail and for storage of important files. Students are given 50 megabytes of disk space. Faculty and staff have 100 megabytes of disk space. You must register online to activate your account.
Account Password Information
A good computer password is one that is impossible for others to guess. Never use a spouse’s, child’s, or pet’s name, your phone or license plate number or any other item that would be easily guessed. Don’t use the same password that you use for other purposes, such as your bank PIN number, as someone who gets your computer password would that have access to that item as well. It should be something you will remember so you don’t have to write it down where someone can find it.
The best password is a combination of letters, numbers and special characters at least 8 characters long and mixture of upper and lowercase. For example Bird4Bea$ is a good password (obviously you should not use the particular sample password because everyone who reads this knows about it).
How To Activate Your Account
Campus Technology Services provides online activation of your campus computer account. In order to activate your account, you will need your Campus ID number. Your Campus ID number is a nine-digit number, which begins with a number eight (8). Your number is located on your SUNY picture ID Card. All persons affiliated with SUNY Oswego (including faculty, staff and students) have been assigned a Campus ID number. You will be asked to enter your Campus ID and your birthdate to continue with the activation.
If you have any problems with account activation, please contact the Technology Support Center at ext. 3456 (on campus) or 312-3456 (off campus).
